Description

A global University with London energy.

The University of Westminster has a long and distinctive history. Founded over 180 years ago as London’s first polytechnic institution, it has become known for the many ways in which it helps students to realise their full potential, regardless of background.

Westminster’s founding values are to be inclusive, progressive and compassionate, with a spirit that reflects the University’s global reach and location at the heart of a world city which is home to diverse communities. Our teaching is relevant, and contemporary, designed to prepare our students for the modern world of work. With our cutting-edge teaching and research environment, we are a leading practice-focused institution, with employability central to our mission.

We are now seeking an exceptional individual as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of College of Design, Creative and Digital Industries (DCDI) to join us and bring truly inspirational, visionary leadership to a dynamic College. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor and President, you will drive continued excellence and work in partnership with stakeholders, including colleagues and students, to deliver successful, high quality transformative and inclusive learning and an exceptional experience for all.

The College of DCDI was formed in 2018 and is made up of four distinctive schools: Architecture and Cities, Computer Science and Engineering, Media and Communications and the Westminster School of Arts. The Schools are located over three campuses in central London and Harrow.

As a member of the University Executive Board, you will join a small team of ambitious leaders driving the University towards a successful future. You will ensure the College provides infrastructure for high performing academic Schools, and the agility to respond to societal needs and a changing higher education landscape, contributing to a focused, high-performing University. Our facilities include cutting edge studios, workshops, laboratories and collaborative space within which to explore, experiment, design build and create.

With an inspirational, collaborative approach, you will have an established reputation in your field and a strong record of research or professional practice and a passion for education and students. You will have the courage and conviction to try new initiatives and embrace change, alongside the prudence and reflectiveness to ensure continued sustainability. The University is particularly keen to identify those who will be keen ambassadors for their disciplines as well as the role of education in changing lives and creating meaningful impact.

Westminster will be delighted to hear from those who share their ambition and commitment; who look forwards and outwards, continuing to challenge with imagination and insight; and who embrace their culture of support, encouragement, and responsibility.
